FCC Map For Internet service

I know many of you have been frustrated about the lack of good fast internet service available to you at Lake Thunderbird.  In 2018 Congress appropriated funds to rural areas to help fund the infrastructure for broadband (high speed) internet.   Lake Thunderbird was excluded from any grant money because Frontier erroneously reported to the FCC that they already supplied us with broadband speed (25 mbps download speed).  A new map was just released and once again Lake Thunderbird is excluded from grant money because it is reported that we have 5 companies offering us high speed internet.

There is a way to challenge this map.  Here are the steps:

  • Go to https://broadbandmap.fcc.gov
  • Click on location, then enter your Lake Thunderbird address
  • On the right side click on the blue Availability Challenge
  • Click on this and 5 companies will be listed that supposedly give us High Speed internet
  • Click on a company to challenge
  • Choose whether or not you want to send an actual challenge or just Give Feedback about the company
  • In the comments section state your case.  i.e..  You have been denied service, your speed and reliability are not good, etc.
  • Fill in your personal information and submit
  • If you want to challenge a second company, just hit the back button and go into Availability Challenge again and repeat the process

The DEADLINE for challenges is January 13, 2023.  Please take the time to challenge the map and encourage your neighbors to do the same.  If someone needs help going on the site to make the challenge, please ask for help.

Thank you!
